A design is the outward appearance of the whole or part of a product resulting from the lines, contours, colours, shape, texture and materials of the product or its ornamentation.

We are able to advise on the suitability of registering your design, and prepare, file and prosecute registered design applications in the UK and worldwide. We can also provide infringement opinions and advise in contentious registered design-related issues. In the event that your design is not suitable for registration, we can advise on what other forms of automatic rights may be associated with your design and what other forms of registered protection may be available.

Copyright

Copyright is an automatic unregistered right that protects the way something is expressed in a piece of work. It comes into effect as soon as the piece of work is created and "fixed" in some way, for example on paper, film, via sound or video recording, or as an electronic record.

Although it is not legally required in the UK , it is advisable to mark your copyright work with the copyright symbol © followed by your name and the date
